COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley has named the board members of her community aid foundation.
Haley named herself chairwoman of the Original Six foundation board Monday, and added 10 more members, including the president of Duke Energy South Carolina, the president of AT&T South Carolina, the leader of the state Department of Employment and Workforce and a member of the State Ports Authority board.
Haley made herself chairwoman of the board, and also picked the following 10 people to serve on the charitable foundation:
- The Rev. Jimmy S. Gallant III, a Charleston City councilman and a chaplain with the Charleston Police Department.
- Catherine Heigel, president of Duke Energy South Carolina.
- Michael Johnson, president and CEO of Cox Industries.
- Pamela Lackey, president of AT&T in South Carolina
- State Sen. John Matthews, a Democrat from Bowman and a retired principal.
- Pat McKinney, a member of the Board of Directors for the State Ports Authority.
- Smyth McKissick, chairman and CEO of Alice Manufacturing Company in Easley.
- Mike Sisk, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Ben Arnold Beverage Co.
- Hal Stevenson, CEO of Grace Outdoor.
- Abe Turner, executive director of the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce.
Haley said last week she's setting up the nonprofit with her $550,000 advance on a book out on April 3, along with more than $200,000 left over from money raised privately for her January inauguration.
The foundation's efforts involve state agencies and local leaders assessing what counties need most, such as basic medical care and school books, then enlisting companies and non-government groups to help.
