Marion County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Marion man after a high-speed chase Tuesday in Rains.
Jordee Albert Brown, 20, of Marion is charged with discharging a firearm into a dwelling, receiving stolen goods and failure to stop for blue light, Marion County Sheriff Mark Richardson said in a press release issued Wednesday.
While on patrol, deputies heard gunshots then saw a green Ford Crown Victoria leaving the area at a high rate of speed, Richardson said. A deputy activated his siren and blue lights to stop the car, but the driver didn’t comply.
Marion police officers joined in the chase and the vehicle was eventually stopped in the Rosewood Drive Projects in Marion, the sheriff said. None of the driver’s five passengers were charged.
Further investigation revealed a house on Nichols Road in Rains had been shot into several times but no one was injured, according to an incident report.
During the chase, the deputy saw someone throw a brown shotgun from the front passenger side of the car, Richardson said. The shotgun was recovered and found to have been stolen from the Marion Police Department.
Brown released from the Marion County Detention Center on Wednesday, but bond information wasn’t available.
