Coward-area man died of gunshot wound, coroner says

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Autopsy results show that a Coward-area man died of a gunshot wound to the upper body, Florence County Coroner M.G. “Bubba” Matthews said.

Jimmy Legrand Spring II, 39, was found dead in his home at 2304 Salem Road on Tuesday morning, a press release from sheriff’s Capt. Mike Nunn states.

“We’re following leads, and we’re talking to people, but we’re not in a position to reveal anything further,” Nunn said Wednesday afternoon.

Although Spring was driving a pickup that was involved in an Aug. 16 wreck with a school bus in Florence, Florence County Coroner M.G. “Bubba” Matthews said Tuesday that he didn’t think the man had died of injuries from the accident. Matthews confirmed at the time that the death was being treated as suspicious.

Spring’s body was sent to Charleston for an autopsy at the Medical University of South Carolina.
