Residents in the city of the Marion showcased their excitement in the spotlight Wednesday at the Marion Chamber of Commerce office for a special live broadcast on WBTW News 13.

“We found it very exciting and positive,” chamber executive director Judy Johnson said. “That is exactly what we were hoping for, is to advertise our wonderful city and community to the rest of the Pee Dee.”

News 13 anchors Nicole Boone and Bob Juback along with meteorologist Frank Johnson broadcasted live on location with members of the community cheering on in the background. The 5 and 6 p.m. newscasts provided a glimpse of the businesses, historic buildings and recreational activities in Marion.

WBTW News 13, The Morning News, and SCnow.com are highlighting towns through May 2011.

“We were glad to have the opportunity to have WBTW here and to visit with our different locations and talk to our local leaders.

Marion mayor Rodney Berry was on hand to speak with the anchors live and give his perspective on what makes Marion a special location.

Chamber president Laura White said local officials did a super job preparing for the broadcast and showing what the city has to offer.
