CONWAY - David Spang works the sales floor at Addy's Harbor Dodge near Carolina Forest, and he's excited about the dealer's latest promotion, which has nothing to do with cars or trucks.
Addy's joins other Dodge dealers in offering a free CD to anyone who drops off a letter to anyone who is fighting overseas.
"It's always nice to get something from home," said Spang, who first was deployed in the Iraq War in the early 1990s. "I think it's tougher on the families than it is on the soldiers, because you're always busy (in the war zone)," he said.
"We sit here every day and don't realize the sacrifices our troops overseas are making for us," said Alex Gordon, general manager of Addy's. "This is just a small way to send some pen pal-type support over to them to let them know."
The CD features Zac Brown Band, which just returned from a USO tour to meet and entertain the troops in April. The band, originally from Georgia, wanted to do something to give back, and partnered with Ram Trucks to offer the CD for the letters.
"A lot of customers that are coming in for service--they're all over (at the display) doing it," said Gordon. "We want to get the word out to folks to come on out and support our troops."
