MYRTLE BEACH – A crowd gathered Friday morning to celebrate the Grand Opening of the new Myrtle Beach Oceanfront Boardwalk.

As part of the weekend’s festivities, the CBS Early Show is broadcasting live from the boardwalk Friday morning. Early Show weatherman Dave Price is in Myrtle Beach for the event and News13’s Chris Still is also forecasting the local weather beach-front.

The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce is helping sponsor the event. The public is invited to come out and enjoy free coffee and donuts. The live broadcast is going on near the old Pavilion downtown Myrtle Beach.

The boardwalk stretches along the ocean from 1st Avenue North to 14th Avenue North. Most of the construction along the walkway is finished, but the portion from 1st Avenue to 4th Avenue will be completed by early June. Part of the 1.2-mile-long boardwalk opened the first weekend of April.
