HARTSVILLE - The award-winning Hartsville High School (HHS) Singers of will perform a free Musical Revue at 8 p.m. Friday in the Fellowship Hall at Wesley United Methodist Church in Hartsville. The highly acclaimed group of nine singers has recently performed the Musical “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” and has received superior ratings in statewide singing competitions.
The program will include medleys from Rogers and Hammerstein’s favorite musicals including “Sound of Music,” “South Pacific,” “King and I” and “Oklahoma” as well as highlights from Webber’s “Phantom of the Opera.” Also included will be individual solos from recent musicals including “Spelling Bee” and “Surf’s Up” and various other musicals including those by Sondheim and other composers.
The concert is free of charge, but donations will be accepted.
The HHS Singers is the Advanced, Honors Choir at Hartsville High and is directed by Dr. James Beaumier, former associate professor of music at Coker College, Arts Department Chair, International Baccalaureate Music Teacher, National Board Certified Teacher and Governor of the S.C. National Association of Teachers of Singing. The Singers consistently receive superior ratings at competitions as a choir and as individuals. Recently members of the choir performed solos in a performance with the Hartsville Civic Chorale and the Long Bay Symphony Orchestra.
