CONWAY - Horry County Police arrested two students who went to St. James High School for a prank involving a suspicious note found at the school last Thursday.

According to Horry County Police Sgt. Robert Kegler, Tyler Bullock, 18, and John Hanna, 17 were charged Monday with disturbing schools.

According to an incident report released Friday, officers were called to the school around 3:15 p.m. after the principal at the school was given a note with the word “bomb” on it that claimed to be laced with anthrax.

The note was signed by a student at the school.

The county’s HazMat team was called to the school, and transported the note to the police department for analysis.

Officers later questioned the student who signed the note. He told the officers the note was meant to be prank between himself and a second student.

Horry County Schools Public Information Officer Teal Britton said both students are currently suspended from school.

They both had expulsion hearings, but the final decision has not been made by the district.
