SOCASTEE - Two Horry County suspects charged in a shooting and standoff in Socastee Wednesday evening had their bond set Friday.
According to J Reuben Long Detention Center reports, Michael Jamel Willis, 24, is charged with assault and battery with intent to kill, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His bond was set at $250,000.
Brandon Martell Horton, 25, is charged with accessory after the fact of a felony. His bond was set at $15,000.
According to Sgt. Robert Kegler, one person was shot near The Villas off Palmetto Pointe Boulevard shortly before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Kegler said officers began negotiating with the suspects who were barricaded inside a home in the area about 6:15 p.m.
After using a patrol car PA system for about 30 minutes, they were able to contact the suspects inside. Horton came out voluntarily after a few minutes of contact.
Officers continued to try and contact Willis for about two hours with the PA system and a rescue phone.
SWAT team members decided to take more action to get to Willis by shooting six canisters of OC teargas into the home.
Once they got into the home at about 8:10 p.m., they found Willis suspect in the attic and arrested him.
Police took both into custody Wednesday evening and served their arrest warrants Thursday.
Both men live in the Myrtle Beach area and are in custody at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
