KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (AP) - A fire has destroyed the clubhouse on an exclusive South Carolina resort island.
Authorities told multiple media outlets that the clubhouse at the Kiawah Island River Course first caught fire around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Firefighters thought they had extinguished the blaze, but it reignited around 8:15 a.m. and rapidly spread through the structure.
Authorities say the blaze was brought under control several hours later, but the building was a complete loss.
Investigators are trying to figure out what caused the fire.
