In Response to Roy Haymond, homosexuals already serve in the military with distinction. Obama simply wants to legitimize their service.
But I’m more interested in his use of holy scripture to justify the ostracism of gays. In Gal 3:26-29, the Apostle Paul wrote: “For ye are all the children of God by faith in christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into christ have put on christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, their is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in christ Jesus.”
Paul could have spared millions of people 2,000 years of persecution, if he had added: “there is neither gay nor straight.” But alas he didn’t.
The disciples and apostles were mortal men. They were not perfect; just read what Paul said about himself. There were limitations to their writings. I think, if Paul lived today he would make the addition I suggested to Galatians. I don’t think Christ distinguishes between gay and straight Christians. Also, Paul was trying to indicate that everyone can come to christ, everyone is equal in christ. God is no respecter of persons, and all who call on christ will be saved.
Perhaps Mr. Haymond has been appointed as the bouncer at the Pearly Gates, but I doubt it. What did he say? Don’t Ask!
