HARTSVILLE - Volunteers are looking for auction items and sponsors for the Lucky Dog Ball Fundraiser that will be held 6:30 p.m. March 25 at Prestwood Country Club in Hartsville to benefit the Darlington County Humane Society. The event will feature heavy hors d'oeuvres, live music and a silent auction. Bizzell’s Food & Spirits will cater, and Crow Jayne, an acoustic band from Florence, will provide entertainment. Dress is snappy casual.
“We saw a need and wanted to contribute,” Lucky Dog Ball Co-Chair Dusty Braddock said. “They get very little funding from Darlington County.”
The deadline for silent auction item donations is March 20, and the deadline for sponsorships is Monday.
“We welcome any donations and have many levels of sponsorships that cover the gamut,” Braddock said.
At the event a slideshow will recognize individual sponsors, and a big banner will display larger sponsors. Individuals and groups can also purchase a table to reserve seating as well.
All the proceeds go directly to the shelter.
The committee of five started working on the event in November in part because the shelter’s big fundraiser Toast to the Coast is only held during odd-numbered years.
“People in Hartsville are very familiar with the Humane Society,” Braddock said. “They’re a good group that does a lot for the community.”
Braddock said she hopes to grow the event each year it’s held during the off year for the Toast.
Tickets, available at Bizzell's, Burry Bookstore, Juice and The Haven, are $25 in advance and $35 at the door. Pet supply donations, such as collars, towels, leashes and dog food, are appreciated. Lucky Dog Ball T-shirts will be for sale at the event as well for $15 each.
