Firefighters show off culinary skills

»  Comments | Post a Comment

MYRTLE BEACH - Teams of Myrtle Beach firefighters tested their cooking skills at the annual Firehouse Cook-Off, Saturday at Myrtle’s Market.

Three-person teams from the department’s three shifts faced off in a timed event similar to Food Network's popular show called "Iron Chef".

The chefs had two hours to prepare a meal using a secret ingredient provided to them that morning.

They also had to use at least three items available from farmers’ market vendors.

Teams are allowed to bring their own dry goods, such as rice, pasta, flower, salt and pepper.
