State queens crowned at Center Theater

HARTSVILLE - Teen Miss Greenville County Samantha Sorrow was named South Carolina’s Outstanding Teen, and Little Miss Cayce Emery Brooks was crowned Overall Queen during Linda Floyd’s Original Little Miss South Carolina Pageant at Center Theater on Saturday. Sorrow also took the title of top Overall Interview. Brooks also took home the titles of Overall Color Photogenic and Overall Black & White Photogenic.

Other big winners included Hartsville’s own Meredith Lane Hall, who won the Spirit of Pageantry Award; Little Miss Dillon County Maci Anderson of Mullins, Overall Sweetheart; Young Miss North Augusta Jessica Crede, Overall Evening Gown; Young Miss Pickens County Hope Harvard, Overall Talent; and Young Miss Clemson Kari VanAmerongen, Aimin’ High Community Service Winner.

Contestants from across the state brought family and friends to Hartsville throughout last week to compete in at Center Theater. The pageant will award $39,000 in scholarships this year.

Additionally, the pageant makes an annual donation to Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital, a charity the queens raise money for throughout the year along with their other appearances. This year, the pageant presented the hospital with a $20,000 check.

“We keep the kids very involved with community service,” Jordan said. “We have to teach the young people to give back.”

Since 2002, the organization has raised more than $106,000 since partnering with the hospital.

Teen Miss North Augusta Janie Davis of Irmo was crowed Teen Miss South Carolina. Runners up in the Teen Miss competition (ages 16-19) were Haleigh Fox of Lexington (Prosperity), Devyn Youngblood of Turbeville (Sumter), Ashton Squires of Hemingway (Myrtle Beach) and Samantha Sorrow of Greenwood (Greenville County).

Young Miss Teen North Augusta Jessica Crede of Lexington was crowned Young Miss Teen South Carolina. Runners up in the Young Miss Teen competition (ages 13-15) were Elizabeth Black of Manning (Manning), Madison Phillips of Conway (Dillon County), Corbyn Fulmer of Little Mountain (Batesburg-Leesville) and Kayla Wilson of Kingstree (Bishopville).

Young Miss Sumter Anna Caison Boyd of Kingstree was crowned Young Miss South Carolina. Runners up in the Young Miss competition (ages 10-12) were Savanna Brown of Longs (Loris), Paige Holloway of North Augusta (Lake Murray), Kari VanAmerongen of Irmo (Clemson) and Hope Harvard of Easley (Pickens County).

Little Miss Marion County Elizabeth Smoak of Marion was named Little Miss South Carolina. Runners up in the Little Miss competition (ages 7-9) were Madison Crymes of Greenville (Greenville County Sweetheart), Emery Brooks of Lexington (Cayce), Jordyn Cox of Andrews (Georgetown County) and Taylor Spires of Gilbert (Lexington).

In the talent competitions, Teen Miss North Augusta Janie Davis, Young Miss Teen North Augusta Jessica Crede, Young Miss Pickens County Hope Harvard and Little Miss Camden Allie Richardson.

Runners-up in the Teen Miss division were Haleigh Fox (Prosperity), Morgan Lifchez (Batesburg-Leesville), Samantha Sorrow (Greenville County) and Jessica Hornsby (Columbia).

Runners-up in the Young Miss Teen division were Kelsi Fringer (Irmo), Jaime Hair (Edgefield County), Johanna Davis (Richland County) and Corbyn Fulmer (Batesburg-Leesville).

Runners-up in the Young Miss division were Riley Yates (Chapin), Georgeanna Kelley (Clarendon County), Grainger Russell (North Myrtle Beach) and Kari VanAmerongen (Clemson).

Runners-up in the Little Miss division were Hunter Singleton (Greer), Emery Brooks (Cayce), Kinsley Odom (Darlington County) and Gracen Grainger (Bennettsville).
