Landlord describes missing Aynor woman as: 'Good tenant'

AYNOR - Horry County Police continue to investigate the case of a missing Aynor woman.

According to police reports 46-year-old Susan Kay DeLuca was on her way to visit family on April 15 in Maryland but never arrived.

The preliminary investigation revealed that DeLuca may have been seen in Marion County near Sparky’s Fireworks on Highway 501.

According to Sergeant Robert Kegler with Horry County Police, Marion County Sheriff’s deputies found the car belonging to DeLuca submerged Friday near Galivants Ferry.

A dive team from Horry County searched the water Monday morning and found nothing.

Ted Godbolt, DeLuca's landlord whom she rented a mobile home from on William Nobles Road said she lived with a man and both kept quiet to themselves.

"This is a shocker,” said Godbolt, “This is all a family neighborhood. She said that she liked it there and she wanted to stay there and I liked them being there because they paid their rent on time.”

According to police reports, DeLuca quit working at the Waffle House off of Highway 501 East shortly before she went missing.

Monday evening, News 13 attempted to speak with those who possibly knew her as an employee but no one chose to comment.

"It is very very unfortunate,” said Godbolt, “I hate it for her, I hate it for her family, I wish they could find her alive."

News 13 spoke with DeLuca's mother Clara Beavers in Maryland. Beavers did not have much to say but commented that the last time she spoke to her daughter was on April 13.

Beavers said in her conversation with her daughter, DeLuca never mentioned she was coming to visit.
