MYRTLE BEACH --  The Myrtle Beach city council gave approval for the SkyWheel Tuesday according to Jon Pedersen, the  Myrtle Beach assistant city manager.

The 175-foot-tall ferris wheel would be the largest on the east of the Mississippi.

Plans include 42 glass-enclosed gondolas with both heating and air conditioning. Each one could hold 6 to 8 people.

There are still some other changes to be made before construction can begin.
