SURFSIDE BEACH -- Members of ABATE, a Grand Strand biker group held a special meeting to find a council candidate who is right for them.
ABATE members met at Beer 30 Bar and Grill in Surfside.
They say they are looking to get 700 signatures on a petition to get a candidate on the November ballot in the District 5 county council race.
However, they haven't announced who the candidate would be but say an announcement is coming on Thursday.
"We’re looking for somebody that's pro biker, pro-individual rights, that not only stands up for bikers' rights but will stand up for the business owners’ rights. That's what we're fighting for is the business owners on the south end and throughout the grand strand," said ABATE coordinator Gary Balcolm.
Balcolm said the group doesn't want Paul Price on council because they disagree with what they feel is his attitude toward bikers.
