MYRTLE BEACH -- Two MSNBC hosts were on a plane that made an unexpected landing in Myrtle Beach Wednesday afternoon. Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski were two of 16 passengers on board ComAir's flight 6435.

It left La Guardia airport and was heading for Charleston, where Scarborough is moderating the SC gubernatorial debate Thursday night. The Delta Airlines plane sent out an 'ALERT 2' signal about 1:00 p.m. to show it was having mechanical problems.

A Delta spokesperson said the plane re-directed after there was a smoke odor reported in the cabin.

None of the passengers or crew sustained any injuries; investigators have not determined what caused the smoke odor.
