FLORENCE -- Several Pee Dee litter control enforcement efforts have been awarded grants from PalmettoPride, the state anti-litter and beautification organization. Enforcement officers around the state received grants funds to purchase cameras and other equipment to assist in illegal dumping and litter investigations.
S.C. Department of Natural Resources Region 2 Unit D, which covers Darlington and Florence counties, received $5,000. Also in Darlington County, the town of Lamar got $2,946 while the town of Society Hill got $2,718. Marion County received $1,385 and the town of Lynchburg received $3,999.
PalmettoPride coordinates its Enforcement Grants annually to support partners in enforcement. The S.C. Litter Control Association works in conjunction with PalmettoPride to further enhance litter control enforcement programs across the state.
