Myrtle Beach teen charged in hotel robbery

Horry County Police arrested a Myrtle Beach teenager for robbing an area hotel this week.

According to a press release, Kwaja Alajawon Bethea, 19, was charged with armed robbery after police said he held up the Country Inn and Suites at 3516 Waccamaw Blvd. on January 13.

Officers said Bethea entered the hotel and demanded money from the clerk around 9 p.m.

The clerk ran from behind the desk to safety, and the suspect took approximately $150 in cash and left in a white Oldsmobile.

The vehicle was later located on Carolina Forest Blvd., and Bethea was taken into custody.

He is currently in at the J. Rueben Long Detention Center.
