Horry County Police investigate Loan-Max armed robbery

An armed robber struck the Loan-Max on US 201 near Myrtle Beach on Jan. 8.

The Horry County Police Department is looking for a man who robbed a local loan office last week.

According to a press release, the robbery happened Jan. 8, around 10:15 a.m. at the Loan-Max at 1991 Hwy. 501. near Myrtle Beach.

Officers were told by the clerk that a suspect described as a black male, approximately 5ft. 5in. wearing a black ski mask entered the store with a pistol and demanded money.

After the clerk gave the suspect the money from the register, the suspect then locked the clerk in the back room and told her not to leave until he was gone.

Detectives are asking anyone with information concerning the incident or the identity of the suspect to contact the Horry County Police Department at 915-5350.
