My real property taxes went up approximately 36 percent on this year’s tax bill mostly due to a large backdoor tax increase from the Florence School District One schools.
I know I was not the only household that was affected during these tough times. I have not received a 36 percent pay increase at work, have you?
We cannot tolerate the ability of these board members to arbitrarily impose these increases because of their poor performance and the schools’ inabilities to manage their monies. If they were a business, they would not be around. These increases need to be voted on and not just passed by the chosen few.
The next Board of Trustees meeting will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 14. The meeting is held in the John T. Sullivan Board Room at 319 Dargan St. in Florence.
There is a segment of this meeting dedicated to “Public Participation” that would be an appropriate avenue to air these concerns.
Please show your support and attend this meeting ask “Why.”
I can’t be the only person in Florence that is concerned about a 36 percent tax increase during this economy.
