Georgetown County crash deadly for car's passenger

GEORGETOWN COUNTY - One person died early Sunday morning in a car accident in Georgetown County.

The wreck happened at 12:15 am about 11 miles north of Andrews.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said 24 year old Timothy Pitts was headed west on SC Highway 51 when he drove a 2000 Chevrolet Impala off the right side of the road and hit a tree.

Georgetown County Coroner Kenny Johnson said Dorlena Scott, 26, of Georgetown, the passenger in the vehicle was ejected from the car and died of a closed head injury.

Both Pitts and Scott were transported to Georgetown Hospital.

Pitts condition is unknown at this time.

Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt.
