The lobby of North Myrtle Beach Middle School was full of blue jeans on Friday morning. But it wasn't a clothing inspection; instead, it was a donation.
Aeropostale stores are conducting the third annual "Teens For Jeans" clothing drive, with half of the donations going to those displaced by the Haitian earthquake, and homeless teens in Horry County.
The schools Beta Club headed up the donation efforts, and it yielded more than 1,500 pairs of jeans of all makes, sizes, and colors.
"I'm so proud of our school," said Beta Club member and eighth grader Nidhi Gohil. "I never thought we would have all of these jeans," she said.
"It does make everyone feel good, to know they're helping people," said eighth grader Brooke Hagler.
The workers from the Aeropostale store at the Tanger Outlets on Highway 501 say the North Myrtle Beach students really came through in a big way.
"We did it between the colleges, we did businesses, (but) this group of kids did more than any of those groups did," said Carrie Crosby, who works at the store. "That's amazing, and it means more, because it's going to their peers," she said.
Anyone can drop off jeans--or other donated clothing articles--until Sunday at any Aeropostale location.
