School bus driver charged in deadly crash

The accident occurred November 2, 2009 when a school bus collided with a motorcycle on the S.C. 31 overpass at Grissom Parkway.

MYRTLE BEACH -- A Horry County bus driver was charged in connection with a deadly accident involving the bus he was driving and a motorcycle.

South Carolina Highway Patrol spokesman Sonny Collins says Michael Joseph Burns, 77, was charged with failure to yield the right of way.

The accident occurred November 2, 2009 when a school bus collided with a motorcycle on the S.C. 31 overpass at Grissom Parkway.

Collins said the motorcyclist, 18-year old Marc Chaplin died at the scene.

No further charges are expected.
