FLORENCE -- Whether at a bar or a house party, football fans were out in full force to celebrate the Super Bowl on Sunday.
Without a local team playing in the game, the day was more about getting together with friends, eating great food and having a good time.
At Red Bone Alley Bar and Restaurant, the festivities began well before kick-off.
Alan Hyman, manager and organizer of Red Bone’s Super Bowl party, said that he’s been planning the day’s events for more than two months.
“We have chili and pulled pork, steamed oysters and tons of drink specials,” he said.
Across the street at Apple Annie’s the menu was quite similar, but also featured their signature fish stew.
Shane Brannon, co-owner of Apple Annie’s, said that even though Carolina didn’t make it to the Super Bowl this year, everyone still comes out to celebrate.
“It’s our national holiday here at Apple Annie’s,” he said. “Now if only the Monday after Super Bowl was a holiday.”
No matter the outcome of the game everyone will have a great time here, Hyman said.
“The party started well before the game and will continue until well after,” he said.
