FLORENCE -- Goodwill Industries of Lower South Carolina is expanding its mission services to the Florence community. Today, February 8, Goodwill began providing services at their new JobLink Center, located inside the Florence Goodwill retail store at 1551 Second Loop Road.

The JobLink Center will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In an effort to streamline services for the community, Goodwill has entered into a partnership with Florence Adult Education to provide certification programs that include Work Keys and Work Core Employability Skills training. The Center will be open to everyone in the community and, in addition to the certification programs, will offer career coaching, job training and other employment placement services.

The South Carolina Commission for the Blind will be available as well to provide job preparedness and computer training using special equipment to blind and severely visually impaired individuals.

Goodwill has also partnered with Experience Works to help low income seniors, with multiple barriers to employment, receive training in order to find jobs within their community.

“When people have economic independence, they tend to be happier, more confident and contribute more to their community,” said Rick Shelley, Area Director of Workforce Development. “It is our mission to help every individual who walks through the doors of our JobLink Center. We are excited to make a difference in the community.”
