A truck ran a stop sign and struck a Darlington County school bus Wednesday afternoon.

It happened about 3:30 p.m. at Oleander Drive and Lawson Road just north of Darlington.

Thirty-four high school and middle school students were aboard the bus, Darlington County School District Public Information Officer Audrey Childers said.

After EMS personnel checked the students, 11 students were taken to area hospitals for minor injuries, Childers said. The remaining students were released to their parents.

The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office and S.C. Highway Patrol are investigating the crash.
