MYRTLE BEACH -- South Carolina's primaries are still four months away, but many campaigns are on full throttle.
Monday night, Lt. Governor Candidate Ken Ard was the keynote speaker at the Horry County republican club's monthly meeting at T-Bonz Gill & Grill Steakhouse in Myrtle Beach.
Ard is from Pamplico and he's a member of Florence County council.
He said if elected, he'll work to make South Carolina the most business friendly state in America.
He adds that agriculture and tourism are the two biggest contributors to the state's economy and said more needs to be done to promote tourism, including on the Grand Strand. "We have got to take advantage of I-73 the opportunity we have with I-73 and any other access mechanism to make Myrtle Beach more compatible to getting here. We've been blessed with miles and miles and miles of beaches and we have got to figure out a way to get people here in a timely fashion." Ard said.
Two other republicans are running for Lt. Governor, Orangeburg attorney Bill Connor, and Charleston state representative Tim Scott.
