FLORENCE -- Florence attorney D. Malloy McEachin Jr. will not seek re-election to the District 9 seat on the Florence School District 1 Board of Trustees.
District 9 covers the Claussen/Mars Bluff area.
McEachin is also former member of the S.C. House of Representatives.
His four-year term on the school board expires this year.
According to the Florence 1 Web site, http://www.fsd1.org, the elections are held in three districts on a rotating schedule.
The board meets once a month and is composed of nine members who make decisions that “set the direction of the district in many areas. They are charged with policy making, planning, goal setting, providing school buildings, and adopting an annual budget to finance instructional programs and services. They must also be familiar with important legal decisions as well as state and national legislation and regulations.“
