Church to celebrate years of service

On Sept. 12 at 4 p.m. the “Greeters Ministry” of the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church 1333 Penderboro Road Marion along with the Pastor A.C. Robinson and church family cordially invited the public to come and worship with them in celebrating three years of service. The guest messenger will be the Pastor Gregory Bartell of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Conway.

Church to celebrate 130 Years Baptist Heritage

On Sept 10-12 Union Baptist Church of Temperance Hill Community 6757 Watson Bay Ct. Marion invites the public to help celebrate 130 years of Baptist Heritage.

On Friday night Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. there will be special music and worship service with the Rev. Dean Parker as speaker.

On Saturday Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. there will be special music and worship service with the Rev. Dean Parker as speaker.

On Sunday morning Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. Sunday school, 11 a.m. special music and worship service with the Rev. Dean Parker as speaker.

Church to hold appreciation service

The Miracle Deliverance Word Ministries invites the public to the Anointed Indoor / Outdoor Super Natural Holy Ghost Appreciation Service for Elder Freddie Woods and Family Crusade on Sept 5 at 4 p.m. The service will be held at Eloise Grice Recreation Center 603 Gurley Street, Marion.

The guest speaker for the special occasion will be Pastor Don Huffman from the True Worship Church of Marion along with his church family.

Church holds Sunday morning services

Church to hold a Men’s Day Program

Grace Chapel Holiness Church 202 McMillian Street, Marion would like to invite your pastor and church to a Men’s Day program on Sept. 5 at 5 p.m. The theme of the program will be “Jesus Gave Me a Life”. All men that would like to participate will need to wear purple and black and march with a donation. The guest speaker will be the Pastor Chris Edwards from Harvest Time in Mullins.

Church to hold its annual homecoming

The Homecoming Ministries along with the Pastor Robinson and the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church 1333 Penderboro Road, Marion church family invites the public to the annual Homecoming Services. Services will be held Sept. 19 beginning with Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. and Worship Services to follow at 11 a.m. The messenger will be the church’s pastor the Rev. A.C. Robinson.

Church to hold yard sale

On Sept. 18 from 6 a.m. - 12 p.m. Effingham Baptist Church Missionary will hold an yard sale. There will be many items to see and there will be drinks, ice cream, popsicles and fish.

Church to hold yard, craft, bake, chicken bog plate sale

Rains Freewill Baptist Church is having a chicken bog plate sale Sept. 11 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Eat in or take out available 5 or more plates bought we will deliver.

On the same day from 6 a.m.-2 p.m. the church will hold a yard sale, craft sale, and a bake sale.

The church is located at 2911 Hampton Street in Rains Community of Marion.

Mullins Horse Arena to hold a horse show

The Mullins Horse Arena 4132 Arena Court, Mullins will hold a Barrel Horse Show on Sept. 11 exhibition at 4 p.m. and the show at 6 p.m.

Veterans on the move

Lt. James B. Miller Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 21 has moved its monthly meeting place to Mullins Nursing Center, 518 South Main Street in Mullins. The Chapter meets the first Thursday of each month.

The next meeting will be Sept. 2 at the Mullins Nursing Center from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. All veterans and members are invited to attend the meeting. Library to close for Labor Day

The Marion County Libraries will be closed on Labor Day, Sept. 6. The regular schedules resume on Sept. 7.  Visit the website for the library and branch hours and offerings www.marioncountylibrary.org.

Chief Curator of Cultural History of the State Museum to visit Marion

On Wednesday Sept. 1 at 1 p.m. the Chief Curator of Cultural History of the SC State Museum in Columbia will be at the Marion County Archives in downtown Marion to accept the gift of a 180 year old coverlet. It was woven in about 1830 in what then was Marion County, the Kemper section around SC 41 near Lake View. The coverlet is the work of Betsy Goodyear (1822-1902), who married Zadock Elvington (1817-1904). Cora E. Williams who spent most of her life in Mullins, was originally an Elvington, and inherited the coverlet, which was passed down to Hallie Williams Hamlin of Mullins, and now to Vicki Hamlin Warner of Myrtle Beach

Recreation to hold sports registration

Come Register now at Watsonia Recreation Department for soccer, football and cheerleading. Ages for Soccer are 5-14 years old and football and cheerleading is 8-14 years old. Residents can register Monday thru Friday 8 am-5pm. We are also looking for coaches and officials for these sports if you are interested call for more information (843) 423-5410.
