Staff members at each school nominate teachers annually who represent excellence in teaching literacy in the classroom.
A district team of panelists judges school level winners and an overall district winner is chosen to represent the district at the regional competition in October.
The school level winners for 2009-2010 are: Rhonda Shelley- Easterling Primary, Stacye Drose- Marion Intermediate and Candace Huggins- Johnakin Middle.
