FLORECE – As major paving operations on Cherokee Road wind up, work on Irby Street is just about to start.
By the end of the week work on Cherokee should be down to driveways and shoulders, Katie Williams, human resources and safety manager for CR Jackson Inc. in Darlington, said.
All told, work on Cherokee should be finished by the end of October.
Paving operations on Irby Street are scheduled to start Sunday night, she said.
That project will be conducted at night and, initially, will include a lot of milling of the aging pavement surface, she said.
Drivers will need to watch out for manhole covers and other fixtures that will rise above the milled surface until it is paved, she said.
Work on Irby Street should be completed by the end of November, she said.
