MYRTLE BEACH - A mass food distribution will be held Saturday at the Grand Strand Senior Center located on 21st Ave North in Myrtle Beach.
According to a news release, the food giveaway is scheduled from 1:00pm - 3:00pm. The distribution is open to all Horry County residents, one per household.
The food distribution is the third such event, paid for by a grant under the federal stimulus package.
This program consists of United Way of Horry County and several of its agencies working together with other non-profits in a collaborative effort to assure Horry County residents receive the help they need, the release said.
The United Way's food pantries are coordinating a portion of the grant money to purchase food for the mass distribution sites to help feed our neighbors who are experiencing difficult economic times. The pantries inclide Churches Assisting People, Helping Hand of Myrtle Beach and North Strand Helping Hand.
The fourth and final giveaway is scheduled for Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Socastee United Methodist Church.
By the end of the third distribution, over 1,000 families in Horry County will have received food, the release said.
