A former Pee Dee law enforcement officer has been arrested in connection with a prostitution sting, according to Florence County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Bruce Franklin Hinds, 55, of 4814 Jordan Circle, Timmonsville, is charged with first-offense prostitution, Florence County Detention Center booking reports show.
Timmonsville police said the sting was prompted by a tip they recceived that the suspect was operating an escort service called The Red Slipper from a U.S. 76 and Interstate 95 motel room near Timmonsville.
Deputies, working with police, arrested the suspect, as well as three women, during the undercover operation Thursday night after the four offered sexual favors in exchange for money.
Ramona Hurley, 41, of 816 Ben Gause Road, Coward; Sheryl Rumph, 40, of 4810 Jordan Circle, Timmonsville; and Jessica Jordan Smith, 21, of 504 S. Hickory St., Pamplico are each charged with first-offense prostitution, booking reports show. Smith also faces a charge of breach of trust with fraudulent intent-value of $5,000 or more.
Hinds formerly worked for the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office. Timmonsville police said Hinds told them he’d been operating the escort service, listed in the Yellow Pages, for about three years.
All four suspects remain in custody at the jail in Effingham awaiting bond hearings.
