Latta High Student completes School Of Agriculture

Sara Coote, a student at Latta High School, is congratulated by South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers for completing the 2009 Commissioners School for Agriculture at Clemson University.

The week-long program ran from July 18-24 and 33 students that participated in this year’s program spent the week in hands-on scientific exploration along with workshops related to academic integrity, teamwork, personal growth and leadership.
The students also chose academic tracks related to their interests.

Ordination of Deacon
On Aug. 16, Lonnie Lane of Nebo Baptist Church was ordained deacon. Lonnie was prior a Marion resident and moved to Britton’s Neck. He went to Little Bethel Church and Friendship before joining Nebo on August. 17, 2007.
The congregation first took part in the Ordination Ceremony with prayer and outreaching of hands led by Rec. Luford Pope. Following, all deacons present came forward and prayed for Lonnie, one-by-one, and was finalized by Rec. Pope.
We are very gratified that Lonnie has met all the scriptural qualifications and has been and active member of the church for 1 year. There is hardly a Sunday that Lonnie is absent from the church. Lonnie is now considered a servant of the church being lead by the pastor and Holy Spirit and shall meet the spiritual needs of the community as well. We ask that God spiritually guides Lonnie during his walk and work as deacon.
