Scott commits to Charleston
Jordan Scott has made a verbal commitment to play basketball at the College of Charleston, Coach Ken Howle of Darlington High School announced Tuesday. The senior made his commitment during an official visit to campus this past weekend. A signing ceremony will be held in November.
Co-ed softball league
On Sept. 17, Chix & Stix won 21-7 against Unknowns; Perks Crew won 11-5 against CHS; Celebrities won 6-0 against The Regulators; and Mudhole Stompers won 26-1 against Norris Plumbing.
On Monday, Norris Plumbing won two games, 15-4 against Celebrities and 12-2 against The Regulators.
On Tuesday, Celebrities won 11-9 against Unknowns; Mudhole Stompers won 11-10 against Chix & Stix; Castaways won 17-13 against The Regulators; and CHS won 10-4 against Perks Crew.
For the second half of the co-ed softball league, the teams have been divided into two leagues. League A consists of Mudhole Stompers (9-0), CHS (7-2), Chix & Stix (6-3), Perks Crew (5-4) and Norris Plumbing (4-4). League B consists of Celebrities (5-4), Unknowns (2-7), The Regulators (1-8) and Castaways (1-8).
Byerly Park awarded tournaments
Byerly Park has been awarded the Conference Carolina College Women’s Softball Tournament for the next three years, according to Phil Gardner, Hartsville’s Parks and Leisure Services director. Conference Carolina is the creation of Coker College according to Tim Griggs, Coker’s Athletic Director, and includes colleges from three states: South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.
