Florence is set to receive $90,647 in Community Development Block Grant funds through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 200, according to a press release from U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn, D-S.C.
Horry County is slated to receive $406,790, and Sumter, $101,433. In all, South Carolina communities will receive $10,317,791.
The Recovery Act made available a total of $1 billion through the CDBG Program.
CDBG enables state and local governments to undertake a wide range of activities intended to create suitable living environments, provide affordable housing and create economic opportunities, according to a press release from Clyburn’s office.
Under the Recovery Act, recipients give priority to prudent and responsible projects for which contracts through a bidding process within 120 days of the grant agreement.
