From left: Timothy Lafond, with Johnson Controls, Mark Bailey, with RMT, and John Ramsburgh with the Conservation Voters of South Carolina, look over building plans during a DHEC meeting and public hearing on the proposed Johnson Control battery recycling plant to be located on Paper Mill Road in Florence.

The meeting, which began with a question-and-answer session, was held to determine if the company will receive a draft air permit. More than 50 people attended the meeting about the plant, which could bring 250 jobs to the area. Written comments may be submitted to DHEC through Sept. 29.
