Man charged in Mullins drive-by shooting

A Marion man has been charged with assault and battery with intent to kill, malicious injury to property, discharging firearm within city limits and possession of a weapon during the commission of violent crime in connection with a weekend drive-by shooting in Mullins, Mullins Police Chief Kenneth Davis said.

Tyson Jerrell Woods, 20, was arrested after officers and Marion County Emergency Response Team deputies searched his residence on Temperance Hill Road early Tuesday morning.

The shooting took place Sept. 19 on Barnes Street shortly after dark and injured one person, who sought treatment at an area hospital and was released.

Officers said several firearms and other evidence were recovered during the search of the suspect’s residence.

More charges are expected, and the investigation by Mullins police and Marion County deputies is continuing.
