Man killed in Florence County crash

»  Comments | Post a Comment

One person died in a single-car crash early Friday morning on Friendfield Road near Lebanon Church Road in Effingham.

Florence County Coroner M.G. “Bubba” Matthews said the driver was Hispanic and he hasn’t been able to identify him yet because he didn’t have a driver’s license and the car wasn’t his.

The driver was heading south on Friendfield Road at 3:36 a.m. when his 1996 Nissan Sentra ran off the right side of the road, S.C. Highway Patrol reports show. The driver overcorrected and the car ran off the left side of the road and into a utility pole.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt, according to the highway patrol.
