Student detained for bringing gun to McBee High

A student has been detained for bringing a gun onto McBee High School property, Chesterfield County School District officials said.

It happened Monday on the school’s campus on S.C. 151 in McBee. The student came to school, went to his first class, opened his bookbag, saw the gun and immediately took it to the administrative office and turned it inChesterfield County School District Public Information Officer Ken Buck said.

Once police arrived, they searched the student’s vehicle and found a knife, too.

McBee police said no one was injured during the incident, which is under investigation by the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office.

Buck said the student has been suspended pending a hearing with a local advisory council which will determine further disciplinary action.
