Incumbent mayor wins McColl special election

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Gary Quick Sr. will remain in place as mayor of McColl, a small Marlboro County town near the Carolinas’ state line

Months after only one vote separated candidates in the McColl mayoral election, the incumbent Quick won a slightly more decisive decision over challenger Ray Grier in a special election Tuesday.

Quick received 510 votes, while Grier garnered 437, according to Marlboro County election officials. There were 25 provisional ballots, and the election was certified Wednesday morning.

Back in May, challenges to the one-vote victory lead to elections officials to call for a special election.
