In a news release to News13 Sunday night, from Catina Hipp with the Conway police department, Hipp said, “On Sunday September 13, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. Conway Police received a report of a hit and run motor vehicle accident with no injuries on Main Street in Conway. “
The release goes on to state that, “the vehicle that fled the scene was located near the intersection of 5th Avenue and Elm Street where it collided with an oak tree, overturned then struck a utility pole.”
Hipp said one person was thrown from the vehicle and another was trapped underneath it.
She said one person was airlifted from the scene to New Hanover Regional Medical Center, in Wilmington, NC, and the other person was first taken to Conway Medical Center and then later flown to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
Hipp said no charges have been filed and the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
