A Myrtle Beach teenager died after a crash outside of Conway.
Horry County deputy coroner Tony Hendrick identified the victim as Patrick Lane McNeese, 17, of Myrtle Beach.
According to Cpl. Paul Brouthers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 3:30 a.m. at Juniper Bay Road and Highway 378, but the crash was not discovered until 7:15 a.m.
Brouthers said McNeese and his passenger were traveling eastbound on Juniper Bay Road in a 2005 Honda Accord and McNeese did not stop at the stop sign on Highway 378, hit a ditch and a tree, and then the car turned over several times.
Brouthers said McNeese died at the scene and the passenger was taken to Conway Medical Center for treatment.
Hendrick said McNeese, whose body was found outside of the car, was not wearing a seatbelt.
An autopsy will be performed in the morning to determine an official cause of death.
The crash is being investigated by the Highway Patrol’s MAIT Team.
