Crash on I-20 kills two people

Two people died Friday in Lee County after a driver lost control of a vehicle while traveling east on Interstate 20, S.C. Highway Patrol reports show.

Two people died Friday in Lee County after a driver lost control of a vehicle while traveling east on Interstate 20, S.C. Highway Patrol reports show.

The names of those who died were not immediately available. The crash happened at about 4:30 p.m. near mile marker 125 just east of Bishopville.

The driver lost control of a 2002 Ford sport utility vehicle which overturned before veering off the roadway, according to the highway patrol. A passenger in the back seat also died. A Columbia woman seated in the front was taken to a Columbia hospital for treatment.

Part of the roadway was closed for two hours and traffic was backed up for about 10 miles while troopers investigated the crash.
