HEMINGWAY—A two-car collision disrupted traffic in downtown Hemingway the afternoon of Sept. 10, sending at least two people to the hospital.

At sometime around 4:30pm a white Chevy Cavalier and a newer model GMC Envoy SUV collided at the intersection of SC-261 and SC-41/51. Hemingway police and fire officials immediately responded to the scene and Williamsburg County EMS arrived a short time later. No word on the cause of the accident, however the two drivers have been transported to Williamsburg County Hospital in Kingstree with what authorities are calling minor injuries.

The identity of the GMC’s driver has not yet been confirmed, but the driver of the Cavalier was confirmed to be one Kathy Flowers of Hemingway by a relative on the scene. The GMC was carrying one passenger, whose identity has also not yet been confirmed.
