The City of Marion is supporting another eventful day for youth in the area by proclaiming the third Saturday in October Marion County Youth Day.
Rev. Marvin Hemingway is organizing the second annual event, encouraging everyone to fellowship and promote a family atmosphere that will provide an outlet for local youth to showcase talent and have a little fun.
Hemingway said there would also be a Michael Jackson contest and step show along with a talent show to give kids an outlet to perform and showcase talent.
The event will take place Oct. 17 at the CD Joyner Auditorium from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“We need your help, so please be a part of history for our youths and make a difference in Marion County,” Hemingway said.
Hemingway said the Youth Day celebration would also feature vendors and gospel recording artist.
City of Marion Mayor Rodney Berry has met with Rev. Hemingway twice to discuss plans for the event. Hemingway is also asking everyone in leadership positions in the county to get involve and promote the event. “I applaud the Marion City Council and Mayor Berry for donating a budget for the event and have supported me very well,” Hemingway said.
