Health care reform group to hold rally in Lumberton

»  Comments | Post a Comment

LUMBERTON - A group opposed to what it calls a "government takeover" of health care will make a stop Wednesday in Lumberton as part of it's "Hands Off My Healthcare" bus tour.

According to a news release, the group "Americans for Prosperity’s Patients First" will hold a petition signing beginning at 9 a.m. at 500 N. Cedar St.

The tour is urging grassroots activists to speak out on behalf of patients and against a government takeover, the release said.

“As we have seen all across North Carolina Americans are fired up about health care, and the bus tour gives more people the opportunity to come out and get involved,” said Dallas Woodhouse, State Director of Americans for Prosperity and Patients First effort said in the release.

Citizens will be urged to call their senators, visit their district offices, and sign the Patients First petition. The petition asks all members of Congress to oppose any legislation that imposes greater government control over health care and results in fewer choices for patients and their families. It can be viewed at www.JoinPatientsFirst.com.

“These proposals would change everything about health care as we know it. Instead of patients and doctors making decisions, it would be government bureaucrats,” said Woodhouse. “We’ve got to let lawmakers know that the American people simply don’t want a government takeover of their health care.”
