»  Comments | Post a Comment

A Marion man has been charged with felony DUI following a fatal traffic collision on US 501 at Grady Road Friday night.

The crash, which backed traffic up for much of the night, happened about 8:30 p.m. when a 1994 Saturn driven north on US 501 by Reginald Bethea, 22, made a left turn in front of a 2004 Cadillac which was traveling south on US 501, according to Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins, South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson identified the victim as Purvis Miller Jr., 29, of Marion. Richardson said Miller was pronounced dead at the scene of massive head and body trauma. Miller was the passenger in the Saturn.

The three people in the Cadillac were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. All three had seat belts on, Collins said.

Bethea was charged with felony DUI, Collins said.
